The Substation Gallery, solo exhibition presented by The Substation, Singapore
Medium: Oil on canvas
This is Susie Wong’s third solo exhibition comprising of a showing of about 20 paintings in oil on canvas. These works followed the series on Heads, began since the last solo and exhibited in Kuala Lumpur, and continued the exploration of the nude, albeit briefly, as subject. Much of her practice is studio-based in which she painted from life. The Heads however, that began as a study of features against light and shadow, evolved into heads with features nearly obliterated. Another series appeared in the form of people, usually elderly, posed against a blank backdrop, with the palms of their hands exposed to the audience.
